Welcome to the new digital research environment dedicated to the study of fourteenth-century poet and composer Guillaume de Machaut (ca. 1300-1377).
This website forms part of a collaborative, cross-disciplinary project, supported by the Leverhulme Trust, bringing together academic partners at the Universities of Exeter, Amsterdam, Clemson, Youngstown State, and City University of New York.
This site offers a range of resources produced by the project team, including purpose-made sound recordings of selected musical works with accompanying commentaries, a searchable archive of Machaut's lyrics, and links to other materials for Machaut Studies. Details are provided about our new edition of Machaut's literary and musical works, and related research. Lists of outputs from the project, such as books and articles, are available here.

This new CD from the acclaimed Orlando Consort showcases songs from Machaut's Livre dou Voir Dit (‘Book of the True Tale’). The recording was inspired by collaborative work between our project team and the Orlando Consort who have been trialling the new edition being produced.
